Roberto Mannino was born in Rome in 1958. Obtains a BFA in Sculpture from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI, in 1980 and a Sculpture Diploma from the Rome Academy of fine Arts in 1990. From 1980 to 1986 has mainly worked in the Intaglio Printmaking field. In the following years works on soft and textile sculptures and relief, focusing on the relationship between structure and matter. Most work of that time presents a reflective graphite surface treatment.

From 1994 has became fully involved in Papermaking, fascinated by the potentials offered by this process and thus has explored its possibilities in relation to his areas of interest, such as sculpture, relief, printmaking and installation.
